The thing about hostels is that they’re all different. Obviously I guess!
- Some have kitchens, some just have microwaves and a kettle and some have nothing.
- Some offer breakfast some don’t.
- Some have a bar, some don’t.
- Some provide towels, some you have to pay for hiring them.
- Some have beds made up for you – some you need to do by yourself.
- Some have washing machines, some don’t. Some are free, some not. Some include powder and some you have to provide yourself.

Anyhow, the YoHo Hostel in Salzburg is nice. The rooms are bigger than some and include spacious lockers and a washbasin within the room. Key card entry to all rooms and lockers.

Space is helpful when you need to get your stuff out and find an outfit or something.
Breakfast is EU8 and is cold cuts, bread and cereal. I just made my own coffee and didn’t have breakfast as usual.
Kitchen has a microwave and that’s it. Two vending machines for drinks and chocolate. There are two large fridges where you can keep your food (labels provided).

There is a washer and dryer that you pay for; payment includes the soap and softener automatically. EU3 for a wash and same for using the dryer. Choose the longest programme for the dryer – if you choose a short one and it finishes you have to pay again if you want to continue using.

You pay EU1 to rent a towel – 5EU deposit which you get back in cash when you return the towel.
I liked this hostel – mainly because of the space in the rooms, it meant I could hang out in there a couple of afternoons. It also meant I could pack and sort my stuff well.
5/10 mins Wak from the train station and the same from Mozart’s house and center of town. EU35/40 per night in a dorm room. Perfect!.
