Taking it easy

When I arrived in Salzburg I was not as interested in things as I thought I would be. I put this down to fatigue and took it easy on the first day. However after a walk around town and after buying the Innsbruck card, I became interested and motivated to see things.

Having the Innsbruck card made me want to make it worth its money! On the first morning I saw enough tourist sites to pay for itself already.

Schloss HellBrunn

However the lack of interest returned yesterday and the day before. So I just took a break. The day before, after visiting HellBrunn Palace, I spent the whole afternoon and evening lying on my bed reading (still Ink Black Heart).

Washing….in the cellar!

Yesterday, I spent the morning reading and waiting for the washing machine to be repaired. It was raining and I was cosy indoors. I washed and dried my clothes early afternoon, then went for a final stroll around town. A small beer and sausage at Cafe Bazar (next to Hotel Sacher) and I’d had enough.

How curious…

Last night I even watched some tv on iPlayer – first time I’ve done that this trip – but it was good! (The Sixth Commandment ep1 in case you’re interested).

Today I bid farewell to Salzburg. Sorry I didn’t get to Hallstatt – the rain put me off.

I guess my point is not to do too much and to listen to what you need. A month long trip is about relaxing and enjoying time – not just about sightseeing.
