I had not yet planned today. Chris was arriving at 5-6ish and I wanted to save the best things to do together. I tried to get a bus ticket to Piran but they were all sold out for the morning.
So after treating myself to breakfast in town, I got a bus ticket to Skofja Loka, a medieval town 40 minutes away.
I immediately liked the place when I started seeing the old narrow streets and houses.

After a walk around town, a quick spin around the castle (5EU/moderately interesting) and an icecream there (2EU and extremely yummy) I wandered back down and walked over to Puštal.

I chose to go down to the river rather than the church as it was a very hot day.

Hence swim #2. Much colder than swim #1. But much needed on this very hot day.

After heading back, I met Chris at the hostel around dinner time. We had a quick trip on the funicular up to the castle and could see the incoming storm. As we got back down, the storm hit big time. The restaurant we went to was in panic, the storm had hit so suddenly that the outside tables, chairs and glasses etc were being blown away.

We chose the Carniolan Sausage (16EU) for dinner and it was amazing. Carniolan sausage is a protected product of this area and I highly recommend it. Also highly recommend the restaurant – Gostilna Sokol. It was recommended to me by another restaurateur. Near the castle. Not cheap but for a special night it was amazing.
