Wow it’s been a full week since I left London and I’m having a great time!
Today I started at the Tourist Information office with a very patient young woman who answered my myriad of questions without blinking an eye.
With her help, I have booked a Promenade Concert for every night this week bar tonight for EU7 per night. The programme is varied and there is an orchestra, brass band, military band and another I couldn’t quite translate – I’m calling that the surprise night!

I have also bought a 3 day Innsbruck Card from Tourist Information, to start tomorrow. More to follow on that.
Old Town
So today I walked around town, saw the local sights…

…but I was really hankering to get up in the mountains. So on a whim, I decided to go to Stubaier Gletscher.
Now I should say I had looked it up and saw that there was tobogganing and a cable car. But I was in a bit of information overload at the time and once I got on the bus it seemed that the destination ‘Stubaier Gletscher’ was going straight past where I thought it would. So I stayed on the bus to see what happened!
In fact I stayed on for another hour! Eventually we came to the end of the line and I could see there were cable cars. Enquiring for tickets I chose a ticket to the very ‘Top of Tyrol’ for EU32. I could have gone to the middle station for EU26 but where’s the fun in that?
The Top was magnificent.

The pictures absolutely do not do it justice. Not even a little bit.
On the way back I saw a wonderful waterfall and bolted off the bus to go see it. Great decision.

Bus = 509 and I caught it from the train station. Fare to Stubaier Gletscher = approx EU12. About 90 minutes of scenic travel. A bargain!
