Bratislava ‘day trip’

One of the recommended attractions for Vienna is actually a day trip to Bratislava. This capital of Slovakia is an hour away by train and I have just decided to travel and stay there one night and then travel onwards to Innsbruck. I have a whole week in Innsbruck so taking a day or two for Bratislava seems reasonable.

The advantages of going to Bratislava are that it is a different country and potentially different culture. The old city of Bratislava looks interesting and different to Vienna and other places I have been.

Bratislava

Also, a whole week in Innsbruck could work well but also has the possibility to feel boring or too ‘samey’. Especially when I am spending quite a lot of time in Austria.

I easily booked a hostel for my one night in Bratislava. Then I tried changing my booking in Innsbruck to start a night later. Unfortunately this is not possible in the Hostelworld app. All my other bookings have been done and easily amended in Booking.com app.

This is what Hostelworld say:

I actually then saw the purple chat box so I got in touch via chat. They were unable to help change the booking. The only way for me to do it was to cancel the booking completely and immediately rebook – risking losing the kind of room that I had booked.

It’s a bit rubbish really. I called the hostel and they can’t help – so I’m probably gonna leave it. But Hostelworld- get your act together!

  3. We went to Bratislava in December for the Christmas market – interesting castle overlooking the city and lovely old streets to wander around – I’d really recommend a guided walking tour if you can.
